James 4: 8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.
I love my life!
To look at my circumstances, you might wonder why. After all, I’m not famous; or rich; I don’t live in a big fancy house; and I’m not a New York Times bestselling author. (YET!) I’m not as healthy as I’d like to be or even as healthy as I used to be because of my brain tumors.
And still I love my life.
That wasn’t always the case. In fact I was miserable. It would be easy to blame my miserableness on other people, but I won’t take the easy way out by blaming it on anyone other than myself. My choices—my responsibility. I became a Christian as a young teen-ager. But as so often happens, when I turned that magic number of eighteen, I started to drift from God. The more I drifted from God, the more bad choices; and the more miserable I became.
God promises to never forsake us–no matter what we do or don’t do. He is always there waiting for us to draw near to him. And when we make that first step toward him, he’ll be there waiting for us to help us with the next step and the next. So I finally “got it” and reconnected with God. In the process I discovered the peace and joy and so much more that God promises each of his children.
Which is why I love my life!
