Struggles–Part 3

2 Peter 1: 3

HIs power gives us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

We’ve been talking about struggles the past few devotions. And why not? We all have them, right? Our struggles can take many different forms but the one thing they have in common is that they aren’t easy.

Today, I wanted to share a few very specific things I do to not just survive my struggles but to thrive in spite of them.

SPEND TIME WITH GOD. There are many wonderful ways to spend time with God, and all of them are worthwhile, but one of the most important ways (in my opinion) is to spend time studying God’s Word–The Bible.

I not only learn what God wants from me, but I get so much encouragement and strength from reading and studying God’s Word.

COUNT MY BLESSINGS. When I heard the words, your brain tumor is growing again, I wanted the throw a pity party for myself–a HUGE one. But I know that it never really helps and, in fact, it actually makes things worse. Instead, I choose to focus on all the good and wonderful things God has given me.

It really does make a difference.

DO GOOD. It’s so easy to become selfish and self-absorbed when we struggle with serious health issues or any other sort of serious issue. But the Bible tells us to love others; focus on others; to do good. When we make a choice to continue to do good to others, we honor God.
