Hebrews 11: 6 (NIV)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Faith is the key to miracles! In Matthew 13: 58 it says, “And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” No faith equals no miracles. More faith equals more miracles.

I believe most of us know God can do anything. Our lack of faith is not in God’s power, but in our worthiness to receive God’s miracles. After all, God might want to help some people, but why would he want to help me?

News flash!!

None of us are worthy! But that doesn’t stop God from loving us or from giving us miracles!

So I’d been back at the hula hoop seriously for about six months. I was a little better, but not nearly as good as I wanted to be. It occurred to me that I had a defeatist attitude when it came to that silly hula hoop.

I no longer believed I could or would conquer the hula hoop.

The hula hoop had beaten me!

Henry Ford has a quote I love. “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” I believe Henry may have stolen that idea from the Bible. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Same idea.

There is truth in those words.

If you have negative thoughts about yourself, then the situation is going to stay negative. For example, if you think you can’t lose the weight you want, you’re right! If you think you can lose it, you’re right!

Our thoughts guide our actions. Changing our thought patterns can be one of the most difficult things we ever have to do! We are so ingrained in our habitual thought patterns, we may not even realize we’re being negative.

I’ve learned there is power in our thoughts and words as long as they’re aligned with God’s principles. Nothing is more powerful than what we say to ourselves.

Want a different life?  Start thinking differently, start speaking differently, and start acting differently. Then wait and see what happens.

Have a little faith—and God will do the rest!

So I started telling myself—I can hula hoop.

I can do it!
