Today, we’re going to look at another parable Jesus told about God’s Word.
Matthew 7: 24-27
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.
Jesus is talking about a two-step approach to life.
Step 1… Hear the Word.
Step 2….Practice the Word.
And of course, you can’t practice the Word, if you don’t know the Word. That’s why Bible Study is so important. And in case you’re an Old Testament person, let’s look at Joshua 1: 8. It give us a wonderfurl promise about God’s Word.
Joshua 1:8
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Talk about a formula for a good life. So what will you build your house on–the sand or the rock?
