God does NOT leave us alone in our battles! Lesson 1

Hosea 4: 6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

I’m leading a Bible Study at my church for the next four weeks. I thought I’d share it here for those that don’t live near me. As with any Bible Study, part of the fun is participating so I hope you’ll do the same here by leaving a comment or responding to others’ comments. Thanks.

God does NOT leave us alone in our battles–Lesson 1

Life will never be without troubles.

Life can be difficult.

Life can be unfair.

Life can be overwhelming but God promises to never forsake us—and he always keeps his promises. God will not forsake us! EVER! As believers, we know this promise and yet as soon as we have a problem, we believe God is mad at us, doesn’t care about us, or even worse has abandoned us.

God does not leave us alone in our battles! He gives us the weapons to be victorious in this life.

What are some of the spiritual tools that God gives us?

Prayer; other believers; praise and worship; thanksgiving to name a few. But as far as I’m concerned the best, the most effective, the most powerful weapon God has given us is His Word—The Bible.

The Bible is God’s love letter to his children. It is filled with all that we need to be victorious in this life, but as the above verse tells us we can be destroyed because we lack the knowledge that God wants us to have.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with bilateral brain tumors as a result of a very rare genetic condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 2. Trust me when I say life ain’t easy with brain tumors!

But God is faithful to his promises that can be found in the Bible. If you want more peace, more joy, more wisdom or more power, it’s there waiting for you. But you have to open the Book.

Your turn: I’d love you to share your own spiritual journey and how the Bible affected it. Next time, we’ll begin an in-depth study of what the Bible can do for us. Hope to see you there!

Thanks and God Bless,

Lillian Duncan
