FACING ADVERSITY GOD’S WAY

DEVELOPING ROOTS–GOD LOVES YOU!

Psalm 36:5

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,

Your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,

your justice like the great deep.

O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.

How priceless is your unfailing love!

Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.

They feast on the abundance of your house;

you give them drink from your river of delights.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

As you work on developing your roots through Bible study, you will find a recurring theme. LOVE. The Bible has a lot to say about love. And that brings us to step TWO. An important part of developing the roots that will hold you upright during the storm is to know—know—know God loves you completely, perfectly, and unconditionally.

Until you believe this in the very depths of your being, you will always be unsure about His Love when the bad times come. The devil will use your difficult situation to make you question your faith.

Don’t let him do that!

Jesus loves me, yes, Jesus loves me. This I know for the Bible tells me so.

The words from this childhood song may be simple but that doesn’t make them any less true or any less wonderful. Jesus does love you and me. If it’s been awhile since you sang that song, go ahead and do it now.

While you sing, feel the truth, the love, and the joy behind those words. How great is that! Did you feel the miracle of God’s love while you sang those words?

Imagine that the God who created the universe, the earth, the moon, the sun and the stars, the mountains, and the rivers, loves each of us. He doesn’t just love us as an idea or a concept.  He knows each of us as individuals.  He knows our names, our struggles and our joys, our problems and our accomplishments, our good traits and our not so good traits.

He knows the good, the bad, and the ugly about each of us and still He loves us. This GOD LOVES YOU concept is so important, we’re going to need a little more time to discuss it. So stay tuned for the next episode!
