The Test in the TESTimony!

James 1: 2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

So you want a testimony? Then you have to pass the TEST in the TESTimony!

Tests are one way to prove what we know or don’t know whether we’re talking about world knowledge or about your spiritual faith.  When I was in school I was one of those nerds who liked tests. To me a test was an opportunity to show I’d done the work. This verse tells us when we pass our spiritual tests, it produces perseverance which allows us tp mature spritually. Spiritual tests come in all sorts of ways, shapes, and forms. Just because it’s a spirtiual test doesn’t mean it doesn’t take on an earthly form.

We’re all being tested right now.

I don’t believe God created this coronavirus, but I know He has the power to use it to bring good to those of us who love him. Romans 8: 28 tells us that exact thing.  As in all things, God gives us a choice. We can choose to be anxious; to be depressed; to be worried; to be hopeless; or even angry and bitter. Or we can choose to keep our eyes on Jesus which will give us the power to persevere which brings spiritual maturity.

I’ve faced many spiritual tests in my life.

And to be honest and transparent, I failed many of them.

It was only when I became a serious student of the Bible that I became a better test-taker. Now that’s not saying I’m some sort of SUPER CHRISTIAN because I’m not. I still struggle just like we all do, but when those tests come I know where I need to go so I can pass the test–To God and HIs Holy Word.

Make no mistake, we are in a test! But it’s also an opportunity to show that we have the faith to persevere so that we can spiritually mature.

And on this Good Friday, that’s a goal we should all strive toward.

GOD BLESS & HAPPY EASTER!
