2 Corinthians 10: 3-4
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
I’ve been writing short devotions this week to remind myself and others that God is still in control. That we can have peace and joy amid this crisis. Just telling you that you can have peace and joy doesn’t really do much except make us more anxious if we’re not feeling peace and joy but experiencing anxiety and depression.
So today is all about some practical advice to get you to your “happy place.” Your happy place is that place where you find God’s peace and joy, in spite of difficult circumstances–like now! It really is all about trusting God, but that’s easier said than done when the world around us seems to be crumbling.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. OK, then what weapons should we fight with?
God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit. It will help you in any battle.
Romans 12: 2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Prayer is powerful.
Ephesians 6: 20
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Praise and Thanksgiving keeps our focus on God and his power and love, not our circumstances.
1 Chronicles 16: 34
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
So today, let’s demolish those strongholds of worry, anxiety, depression, and doubt by going to God’s Word. Find some passages about God’s love and his promises. Memorize them or write them down. Look at them often doing the day. After you’ve found some verses that bring you comfort, spend some time praying and be sure to praise and thank him during your prayer time. Then go find some wonderful inspirational music to listen to and sing with–as loud as you can.
And then I believe you’ll have found your happy place!
Then do it all over again tomorrow!
God bless you!
