Building The Frame

Matthew 7: 24-27

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Hebrews 12: 2

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

Ephesians 2: 20

having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

There are many different ways to put a puzzle together, but I think the easiest way is to put the frame of the puzzle together first. We could just start piecing the puzzle together willy-nilly and eventually we might get the whole puzzle together—if we don’t give up first. However, if we start by building the frame first, we’re going to save a lot of time not to mention frustration.

Once the frame is finished, it’s much easier to begin to fill in the other pieces. Having the frame or the foundation allows you to complete the rest of the puzzle a little easier and a little quicker.

Spiritually the same is true.

Every person has beliefs that make up the foundation or frame of their life. What they believe will dictate how they live their life. For some people it’s about power, money and/or success. For others it’s about family and friends. Sadly for some it’s about themselves. For Christians, it’s about God.

Jesus is the foundation of our faith and thus our thoughts and actions should be a reflection of Jesus. To do that there are key pieces that will help form the spiritual frame of our Christian journey.

  1. Our relationship with God. First and foremost we need to have a relationship with God. That relationship ensures our future for all eternity.
  2. God’s Word. The Bible is filled with all that we need to know to put the puzzle of our life together.
  3. Knowing who we are in Christ. It’s crucial to understand the inheritance we receive through Jesus when we become part of the family of God.

I believe all three of these pieces work together to give us the strong frame we need to live the life God created us for as well as to survive the storms that come in our life. If we don’t have all three of these, there will be holes in our puzzle. There’s nothing more frustrating than to get to the end of a puzzle only to discover there are missing pieces. That’s true spiritually as well. The stronger the frame, the easier it is to finish the puzzle of our life.

God Bless & Good Reading.
