John 3: 16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God wrote the greatest love story of all time. He is the creator; we are the characters. But unlike characters in the stories I write, God gives us creative control over our lives.
That’s love.
Since the beginning of time, the characters in God’s love story has disappointed again and again. And what does the Creator do about it? Forgives us time and time again.
That’s love.
Life is all about love. God’s love for us. Our love for God. Our love for our neighbors—and our enemies. It’s easy to love our family and our friends, but our enemies? Not so much. But it’s not impossible because God doesn’t expect us to do the impossible.
In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Our world today is filled with darkness—illness and tragedies; sadness; anger; and hatred to name a few. And it seems to me as if the darkness is spreading at an alarming rate. How do we stop the darkness? Not by walking in the darkness but rather by shining the light of God’s love into that darkness. Most of us aren’t in a position to literally go into the darkness and shine God’s light into it but all of us can pray.
That’s love.
Each day we are faced with choices. Again God gives us creative control over our lives. We can choose to act in love—or not. When we choose to act in love, whether it’s toward God, others, or ourselves, we honor God.
That’s love.
