God’s Love Is Personal

 Psalms 36:5-7

God’s love is meteoric, his loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, his verdicts oceanic. Yet in his largeness nothing gets lost; Not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks.

Not a man or a mouse slips through the cracks.

God loves me and you. He doesn’t just love us as a group. He knows me. He loves me for me.

When I was very young I remember watching some movie on TV on a boring Saturday afternoon where Zeus and other Greek gods sat at a chess board making decisions for the humans without regard for them or their lives.

It’s not like that with God. He cares about each of us as individuals. Jesus assures us of that in Matthew 10:30 when he says, “And even the very hairs of your head are numbered.”

The Bible assures us that he knows us– our names, our dreams, our pain and our joy. It’s hard for us to believe that, isn’t it? Especially in troubled times. We can’t always know why we suffer, but we can know that God still loves us and weeps for us. He wants us to draw near to Him, to believe His promises, and to trust Him during the storms.

Not a man or a mouse slips through the cracks.

The God who created the earth and everything in it not only knows my name, but loves me. He created me! He knows me better than I know myself. He knows my pettiness, my jealousy, my hidden secrets, and yet He loves me. Loves me enough to send His son so that we can live with him forever. Loves me enough that I don’t have to work for the privilege of his love or salvation, but that it is a gift.

Not a man or a mouse slips through the cracks.

I hate going to doctors, and I’ve been to more than my fair share this past year. One of the things I hate the most is when they put you in the office and then leave. You sit and wait and wait and….I’m always sure they’ve forgotten me, and that I’ll be sitting there forever.

The Bible assures us again and again that God will never abandon us. He will never turn His back on us. He will never forget us. During the storms of life, we need to cling to that promise like the lifesaver it is!

Not a man or a mouse slips through the cracks.
