MAKING A LIST; CHECKING IT TWICE. . .

       1 Timothy 4:12

Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

I have no doubt as you read the title, a song danced in your head. You might even be humming it to yourself right this second.

The above verse tells us to be an example to believers in all things. I don’t think it would be wrong to expand that to include others, especially our children. At this time of the year, many parents often tell their children “Santa’s watching” in an effort to get better behavior from them.

I know one thing for sure—your children are watching you! Children learn what they live. First and foremost, children watch their parents to gain a better understanding of the world around them and how they should behave and believe.

What example are you setting for your children during this holiday season?

It is so very easy to get caught up in this season of buying, buying, and more buying. Being busy, busy, and more busy. That we forget to take time out to honor the reason for the season.

I’m all for enjoying the holiday, but make sure to make time in your busy schedule for the real Christmas. There are a ton of activities for you and your family to make the season not just about gifts. Here’s a few:

Help out someone less fortunate.

Enjoy a Christmas program at a local church.

Read the Christmas story out of the Bible.

Rent a meaningful Christmas movie—like THE NATIVITIY

Make Christmas cookies and share them with another family.

SHARING TIME: WHAT’S AN ACTIVITY YOU ENJOY WITH YOUR CHILDREN THAT DRAW THEM CLOSER TO THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS?
