FACING ADVERSITY GOD’S WAY

DEVELOPING ROOTS- ACCEPT GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY

Psalm 77:13-14

Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our god? You are the God who performs miracles; You display your power among your peoples.

Today’s topic is not going to be a popular one with most people, but it’s a necessary step to finding peace and joy during adversity.

So, I hope you’re still working on developing your roots with steps one and two—Reading the Bible and Believing God loves you. Once you believe God loves you from the tip of your head to the tips of your toes, it’s time to accept God’s sovereignty.

What is sovereignty?  According to www.dictonary.com  it is having supreme rank, power, or authority. In other words being sovereign means being the BIG BOSS.

And make no mistake about it God is sovereign. God is the BIG BOSS. God is the ruler of the universe. He is our king. He can and will do things that we won’t like or understand and HE doesn’t have to explain the why to us.

Like it or not, God is in charge.

I’m not a theological expert, but for the most part, I don’t believe He causes the bad things to happen as much as He lets the world have free will. He didn’t cause 9/11 to happen. Instead, evil people chose to exercise their free will and do evil.

God can intervene in a supernatural, miraculous way if and when He chooses. Other times, He chooses to use bad things to help us grow in faith. And this is where knowing God loves you come in. If you believe God truly loves you then when the bad times come, you won’t lose your faith.

Submitting to God’s sovereignty will cut down on our sense of entitlement that life should be perfect for us saints. Knowing He still loves us and will work things out for our good will give us the peace we need when facing adversity.

SHARING TIME: What are ways you do or don’t show that you accept God’s sovereignty?
