Happy Birthday To Me–From God!

Matthew 7:11

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

It’s my birthday week!  I love everything about birthdays-parties, cards, and cakes. I’ll admit it–I have been known to buy a birthday cake for no reason at all and just yesterday I reminded my husband time to order the cake. But most of all I love birthday gifts.

Guess what? God loves birthdays, too! Jesus explained to Nicodemus that we must have a spiritual birth in order to see the kingdom of God. In Luke 15, it talks of a celebration in heaven when a sinner repents.

New birth + celebration = birthday party

And a birthday party means birthday gifts! So I believe that means God loves birthdays. As the verse says, imagine what good things your Heavenly Father will give. We know that God’s gift is salvation but did you know that salvation is a multifaceted gift?

Why does God give us such great and wonderful gifts? Because He loves us.

It’s as if we have a giant gift but as we open it, we find more gifts inside. Some people are satisfied with the big gift and don’t unwrap the others. There’s some work involved in unwrapping the other gifts but it’s well worth the effort—I promise.

The choice to unwrap is ours but when we do we find such amazing gifts as wisdom, joy, peace among other things. In honor of our spiritual birthdays, we will spend some time  the next few week discovering some the wonderful gifts God gives us. See you soon!

What’s one of your favorite birhtday memories?
