So writers along with lots of other people like to choose a word to focus on for the year. It’s something to pray about rather than just pick a word out of the blue.

I’ve done it for the past several years. In the past I’ve had LOVE and MERCY and FAITHFULNESS as my words of the year. Mercy was actually my word for two years in a row. I think that says something about me! This year was HEALING. I hadn’t actually planned on having a word this year, but God gave it to me anyway.

When HEALING became my word of the year, I thought it was about my healing. Because I do have a lot of healing issues thanks to my brain tumors. I thought I would focus on getting healthier and stronger.

And I did, but that’s not all that happened. God has a way of surprising us. Another thing that actually happened was that I’ve become more compassionate about other people and the healing they need.

So last week, I started praying about what my word should be for this year. And it came to me rather quickly. It’s actually two words.

My word for 2024 is…GOD’S WORD.

I guess I could make that into one word and use BIBLE as my word of the year.

The last two posts have been about my Bible study plan for 2023 and for 2024. Along with that my Bible Study group at my church was taught about Praying The Scripture which I’ve been doing for about a month as well.

I’m excited about my new Bible study plan that will include journaling as well as praying scripture. I hope you’ll join me. I plan to read the New Testament in a year and also include the Psalms and Proverbs as part of my Bible Study time.
