In the hopes of making this devotional site a bit more interactive, I’m adding a new segment–THOUGHTS FOR THIS DAY.
The idea is to have a verse and get some discussion going about the verse. Your thoughts, your insights, your questions and mine! Of course, there will still be the devotions from me as well as other writers and the occasional promo of a friend’s book.
I’m hoping to have THOUGHTS FOR THIS DAY at least once per week, but we’ll see how it works out.
So, here’s the verse I’m using to kick-off the new segment:
GENESIS 4: 7
The LORD said, If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.
This is not a verse I was familiar with–at all. It’s part of the accounting of the murder of Abel by Cain. I read it as part of a new devotional book I’m using this year. I love this book so far–DESIGNED FOR DEVOTION: A 365 DAY JOURNEY. You might want to check it out.
Anyway, my first thought when I read this was. Wow! That’s really clear, realy easy. God told us what to do clear back in Genesis and yet I’ve spent my life trying to figure this out. How dumb am I?
YOUR TURN: Please leave your questions, insights, and comments. Let’s get the discussion going!
